IMTOKEN WALLET BACKUP ALTERNATIVE WAY TO SECURELY AND ENTIRELY BACKUP ALL OF YOUR WALLET PROPERTIES FOR LONG:
Yeah, it’s quite possible to consistently backup your entire wallet (not just Imtoken, including your wave wallet, neo wallet etc.) for a very long time, and I mean like forever (lol).
This would be achieved with concepts of cloud storage services like the Google drive and icloud. So this tutorial will specifically deal with the use of Google drive services (you could use any other one of your choice but for simplicity I chose Google drive)
- Get a Gmail account (if you are creating a new Gmail account, please chose a very secure password)
- Get this app for the android users password keeper (blackberry password keeper and it also require blackberry Hub+ services to run)
Open the app, accept all the terms of the app. At “setup 2/3” tick Backup passwords,
This option would automatically backup your passwords and notes in your password keeper to your Google drive account.
Imtoken wallet backup step 2
Note: It is important to set this password as different from that of your Gmail account, reason is, if for any reason your Gmail account get hacked or compromised don’t panic for sake of your wallet and funds. Even if your Google drive get hacked your password keeper notes and password you backed up in the Google drive is encoded in an encrypted .pkb2 format that has a password which is only known by you. So you see why it’s important NOT TO USE SAME PASSWORD?
Imtoken wallet backup step 3
After you have saved your password, next is to save your wallets keys, web login info, and account details etc. in the notes tab. After creating any wallet, do not forget to always save a copy of your private keys or passphrase to avoid loss of access to your funds later.
Here is an example format I use in my case study;
- Wallet name
- Wallet address
- Private key/passphrase
- Website (where applicable)
After each save, make sure to always upload it to your drive to PREVENT LOSS OF DATA AND ALWAYS BE CAUTIOUS
CLICK ON SETTINGS > BACKUP AND RESTORE OR IMPORT/EXPORT
Save to your desired location.
And you are done. I guarantee you, via this method your wallet details are safe even in cases where your device might be stolen, your keys are kept intact and safe guarded for the time.
